Pathway in
K-12 Education
Military service builds people who can lead, mentor, and bring out the best in a team, exactly what great teachers do every day in a classroom. The K-12 Education Pathway helps military-connected students discover whether that instinct for teaching and mentorship belongs at the front of a classroom.
This program supports Military Community Advocates (MCAs) who have developed K-12 Education service programs, as well as military-connected students pursuing careers in teaching and education. It gives them the chance to build real leadership experience in K-12 education while still on campus, connecting them with mentorship, networking, and career planning resources that support both their service programs and their transition into education careers after graduation. For military-connected MCA students, it’s also a great way to test a career area, seeing firsthand whether K-12 education is the right fit, before making the leap.
By helping military-connected students recognize and pursue opportunities in K-12 education, while making a tangible difference on their campuses, the Pathway builds a corps of K-12 Education-minded MCAs and students who serve two purposes:
- Expanding supportive services for the military-connected community on college campuses
- Elevating career opportunities for those seeking to transition into K-12 education
Program Components:
- Leadership development through campus-based K-12 education initiatives
- Networking opportunities with education organizations
- Career planning support tailored to K-12 education requirements
- Service scholarship support for military-connected students developing education-related programs
- Professional development workshops focused on K-12 education trends and opportunities
