Improving the transition from college to career
BUILDING CAREER PATHWAYS
Transitioning from military service to a civilian career can be a complex and daunting process, especially for students navigating academic life while planning their futures. At the National Veterans Leadership Foundation (NVLF), we are committed to ensuring military-connected students not only succeed in college but also thrive in fulfilling careers and leadership roles after graduation.
To achieve this, NVLF is developing a multi-faceted initiative: the Career Pathways programs. These programs are specifically designed to help military-connected students identify and pursue career opportunities in high-demand fields, including Entrepreneurship, Health and Wellness, science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
Our Career Pathways programs go beyond classroom learning to provide:
• Opportunities for Leadership Development: Equipping students with leadership experience that enhances their personal and professional growth during college.
• Mentorship and Networking Support: Connecting students with mentors and industry professionals who can guide them as they explore career opportunities.
• Targeted Career Planning: Offering resources and coaching to support the often-challenging transition from military service to civilian careers.
The Career Pathways program was successfully piloted in Entrepreneurship at 11 universities in 2023-2024. Moving forward, priority career verticals could include advanced manufacturing and technology, public service and logistics.*
