
Maj. Gen. Timothy Zadalis
Maj. Gen. Timothy M. Zadalis retired as the Vice Commander, U.S. Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. As the air component of U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command, USAFE-AFAFRICA is responsible for providing warfighting capabilities to both combatant commanders throughout their area of responsibility, which encompasses 104 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, the Arctic, and Atlantic Oceans and possesses more than a quarter of the world’s population and world’s gross domestic product.
General Zadalis graduated from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, earning a degree in Biological Sciences. He holds master’s degrees in Management and Airpower Arts and Sciences, and was a National Security Fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School. He was commissioned through Officer Training School in 1984, and his career includes numerous operational and staff positions, including Vice Commander of the 60th Air Mobility Wing, Travis Air Force Base, California; Commander of the 43rd Airlift Wing, Pope AFB, North Carolina, Commander of the 21st Expeditionary Mobility Task Force, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey and Commander of the 618th Air Operations Center (Tanker Airlift Control Center), Scott AFB, Illinois, responsible for worldwide airlift, air refueling and aeromedical operations. He is a command pilot with more than 4,400 hours and has served as an Airborne Emergency Action Officer. He is a decorated combat veteran earning two Bronze Stars, an Air Medal, and the U.S. Army

In retirement, General Zadalis divides his time between his consulting business and volunteering. His consulting portfolio includes serving as an Adjunct Professor for Air and Space Force Professional Military Education courses, and he supports the Air Force Research Laboratory’s advanced research and concept development programs. As a volunteer, and in addition to supporting the National Veterans Leadership Foundation Fellowship Program, he serves as the Senior Vice President for the Airlift/Tanker Association Board, the Aviation Heritage Center of Wisconsin Board, the University of Wisconsin MIA Recovery and Identification Project Board of Advisors supporting the recovery and identification of America’s MIAs. He participated in the successful recovery of a World War II airmen near Bastogne, Belgium. And finally, he is the Military Ambassador and Pace Car driver for Road America—a historic US racing venue
